Otago has moved to an open fire season as of Wednesday 11th April 2018. This means permits are not required for burning, however there are a few exceptions. For more information please contact us on 0800 673 473.

The Otago, Fire and Emergency New Zealand is responsible for ensuring the requirements of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 and the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire Permits) Regulations 2017.

Our area of responsibility is the Otago Regional Boundaries (with a few exceptions).

If you’re in doubt contact us anyway and we can point you in the right direction.
